What is Safer Internet Day? This global event happens each year on Feb 8th to promote safe and positive use of the Internet as well as other digital technology. It raises awareness and conversation when using such technology and media in a responsible, respectful, creative and critical way.
This year the theme is
'All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online'
For 2022, the Day celebrates young people’s role in creating a safer internet and the ways they use the spaces in which they interact. These different platforms are spaces for connection, community and collaboration, which is why the Day challenges them to foster supportive relationships and respectful communities, whilst equipping them with the skills they need to keep themselves and others safe in these spaces.
At Prestwood School we teach digital and online safety as a part of the Computing curriculum and special days like these help us to reinforce good practice and instill and teach responsible behaviour and strategies to the children.
