Safer Internet day occurs globally to promote safe and positive use of the Internet and technology. It raises awareness and creates conversation around using technology and media in a responsible, respectful creative and critical way.
The theme for this year is:
Making space for conversations about life online.
So much of our lives are wrapped up around technology and it is fast becoming the heart of our daily activities. With this in mind, it is so important to keep our conversations open and supportive with our children as they too increasingly spend more time online.
This year we want to help our children:
Lead online safety activities
Identify and tackle barriers when speaking up about online issues
Empower themselves to be an advocate for change
At Prestwood Infant school we teach e-safety throughout the year via our Computing curriculum however special days like these help us to reinforce good practice and instill responsible behaviours within the children.

We held a Safer Internet assembly which was led by Alison Watts (Prevent Education Officer) about keeping safe online. She read one of the Digiduck stories. We knew some things and now we know lots more about keeping safe online.
If you would like to know more information please do ask your child's classteacher, Mrs Smith, Mrs Nichol or Miss Bounds.
