Autumn 1

Well done on another fabulous week year 2.  This week we have been writing an innovated story about Augustus the tiger. The story line was kept the same but the children changed the settings. First the children drew out their story maps and added any words they would like to use.   They used lots of description (describe, describe the noun!) in their work and also added some adverbs into their writing too.  We had some fabulous stories. Well done everyone.

In maths this week we have been using our number bond knowledge to help solve problems. Understanding that we can pull some of another number to help answer a question.

In Science this week we looked at the life cycle of a butterfly.  We found out the names given to each stage of a butterfly's life and wrote about it.

Art this week we used 2d shapes to create our own Ndebele art in our Art books.

Topic this week we have been learning about the Kenyan flag.  Understanding that each colour on the flag represents a fact.  We also tried our hand at learning some Swahili!  We found out that food - Chakula, eat - kula, grapes - zabibui, apple - tofaa and milk - maziwa.  We also learnt to say wash hands - nawa mikona!   Why not try and say some different words using wordhippo.com?  Let us know what you find out.

Abacus again is up and ready for you.  Please do let us know if you have any problems.

Have a fantabulous weekend and don't forget to eat some cake!!!!

In topic this week we have been looking at the seven continents of the world. We learnt the song (which you can too by following the link above!). We then plotted the continents onto a map in our books. Then using this information we plotted the continents onto a balloon making our own globes.
