If you go down to the woods today....you won't see any bears but we will be exploring this topic through lots of fun stories, information books and activities. We even have a special surprise at the end but you will have to wait to find out!
We begin this week of bears alongside Communication Week which is run by Bucks Council. Communication Week runs from 28th Feb to 4th March and has a variety of events and activities countywide as well as in school to develop children's vocabulary and language skills through storytelling. Please do click on the link to find out more. There are some links for parents at the bottom of the Bucks Council webpage. As part of the week we hope some of you lovely parents might volunteer your time to read a story on Friday 4th March to your child's class. Do let the office know if you are available and we will be in touch midweek with a parent from each class.
We also have World Book Day on Thursday 3rd of March and are looking forward to seeing the children dressed up as their favourite book character.
Our first story to open the topic is the traditional tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, which we will read and retell in literacy lessons.
Our maths sessions will be looking at consolidating our number skills to 10; counting, number bonds, identifying and writing the numbers and really knowing these numbers well.
We are also hoping to squeeze in making some pancakes for Shrove Tuesday. Its going to be a jam packed week so hold on to your hats as we race in Spring 2.
