Week 5

Growing & Changing II

With only a few weeks left, we are flying through the rest of this half term and enjoying the wonderful weather. We are spending a lot of time learning outdoors which is so much fun. Thank you for the baby photos, we have talked about the past and the things that we could do when we were babies compared to more things we can do now in the present. You could chat about that at home, maybe with grandparents about how life was different when they were children. We are looking at oral health and last week we had a look at the types of food which were tooth healthy.

Phonics: This week we are still looking at longer words with a focus on 'chunking'. Some of the children can read the whole word in one go which shows developing fluency. Suffixes this week are -er and -est. We will review the tricky words: to, into, all, are, they, one, out & today. We will carry on practising writing words and sentences.

Literacy: Non-fiction texts this week:

We will be reading the above book and then learning about the different types of teeth so that we will be able to write a fact file about teeth in the following week.

Maths: We carry on with our unit on Spatial Awareness. This week we focus on maps and representing maps with models. Perhaps you can make a map of your children's bedroom with them and then re-create it using wooden blocks or Lego.

Special days: 1st July - International Joke day, 1st - 14th July - Wimbledon, 4th - General Election, 5th - NHS birthday.

Song of the week: Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary.
