Week 4
It is going to be a very exciting week as we are going on our school trip to the Green Dragon Eco farm. It should be a wonderful day out and hopefully the weather will hold out and be sunny for us. Phonics
Reviewing our phase 2 sounds and digraphs (ck, sh, th, ch, ng, nk); phase 3 long vowel sounds (ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air). Segmenting and blending them to read longer words.. Tricky words this week are: were, here, little, says.
Literacy
We will also be looking at minibeast poetry. We are aiming to learn some poems and commit them to memory and then recite them for an audience. This can be very tricky but you can help at home by going through the poem with the children. We will also look at rhyming words: spotting them and thinking of matching rhyming words.
Maths
Counting in 2s, 5s and 10s as well as reviewing doubling and halving from the previous week.
Topic
We will be looking at expectations for learning and behaviour when we are out on our school trip and creating some rules together so that we can all have a lovely time.
