Week 2

We have settled back into school life and getting into the swing of things. Thank you to all the parents who have sent in a photo of your holidays. Please don't forget to send them in as we will be using them as a prompt in our writing task this week. Don't worry if you have no recent photos, a day trip to somewhere local will be great too. New reading books are given out so please try to read for about ten minutes a day and sign the reading record - thank you.

Phonics: We carry on with phase 3. We will be learning the phonemes: oo (short) oo (long) ar or. The Tricky Words this week are: was, you and they.

English: We begin our Prestwood and Beyond theme by looking at life in a different country and comparing it to where we live. We will be looking at the book Catch that Goat over the next few weeks. We will practise our story inventing skills from our new writing scheme Talk for Writing. You can encourage storytelling skills by making up stories using toys at home or retelling stories form favourite books.

Maths: In our lessons this week following our White Rose Maths scheme, we will look at finding 1 more and 1 less as well as the composition of numbers 0-5. This is finding all the ways to make the numbers 0, 1,2,3,4 and 5.
