Today, in our live lesson, we are going to be finding the difference between 2 numbers by counting forwards.
What is the difference between 28 and 23?
Which is smaller 23 or 28? We must start on the smallest number and count the jumps forward to find the difference between the two numbers.
Start on 23 on your 100 squares and count how many jumps forwards you make to 28. The answer is 5. The difference is 5.
We would write this as - The difference between 28 and 23 is 5.
You can also show this as an addition and subtraction number sentence.
23 + 5 = 28
28 - 5 = 23
