Literacy

This week we are looking at healthy foods including fruits and vegetables. Our book for the week is Oliver's Vegetables by Vivian French and illustrated by Alison Bartlett.

It is about a little boy called Oliver who only eats chipped potatoes...until he goes to visit his grandad.

Now that you have listened to the story here are some challenges for you to try.

Cool:Look at some vegetables that you have in your kitchen. Can you choose one and sound out the name using your phonic sounds. Write the names of your vegetables down.

Mild: Use two vegetables in your kitchen to write a sentence about each vegetable. Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. e.g. a carrot is crunchy.

Hot:  Using the vegetables in your kitchen, choose a few and write down a sentence about each one. Describe it using adjectives (these are describing words). e.g. A carrot is long and hard and it is orange.
