Good afternoon year 2.

Today we are looking at similes. A simile is a way of describing something by comparing it to something else using 'like' or 'as' in an interesting and imaginative way. You may have heard some common similes before such as, 'as blind as a bat' or 'as quiet as a mouse'.

Below are 2 activities for you to have a go at.

1. You are going to complete the sentences to create a simile, remember you are comparing two things so they need to match e.g. The boy ran as quick as a fox / rocket. Fox would fit best because although a rocket is quick, it wouldn't run it would fly.

2. You are going to create a simile poem about someone, could be a member of your family, a friend or even a teacher. The template is just to give you an idea, you can make up your own sentences or add more. When you have finished you can draw a picture of the person or something that reminds you of them.
